Seventeenth Annual Northern California Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Conferences

Dr. Collin Ross, of the Ross Institute in Texas, http://www.rossinst.com/,
has agreed to present a workshop for our

Seventeenth Annual Northern California Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Conference

Projected date will be either April 23rd or 30th, 2011, TBA, in Davis, California

As always, the 2011 ISSB Conference will be offered at no-cost and no-registration, so that all who care to may attend, and can remain anonymous if they so choose.

Professionals will be able to earn CEU's by registering and paying a fee.

We don't know exactly what the workshop will cover yet, but Dr. Ross agreed to have the topic focus on dissociation, dissociative disorders, DID, and healing from these disorders, as they occur in the context of child sexual abuse.  For example:

o        Therapeutic challenges in child patients as well as in adult survivors
of child sexual abuse with dissociative disorders

o        Etiological factors of DID:  how important is the severity of the abuse vs. other environmental factors,
genetic, or other innate factors?

o        The irony that DID protects the child sexual abuse victim but makes the child a less credible witness.

o        The most important  Take-Home message for therapists

o        The most important Take-Home message for survivors and or parents of child victims

We also read his list of suggested topics on his website, and told him that we will be very happy if he also manages to tie in any of the following from his list in with the main topic as described above:

o        The Problem of Attachment to the Perpetrator in Child Abuse Victims

o        Long Term Effects of Child Abuse

o        A Trauma Model of Borderline Personality Disorder

o        A Dissociative Subtype of Schizophrenia

o        How to Choose a Trauma Therapist

o        Childhood Trauma and Eating Disorders

o        Psychotherapy of Complex Comorbid Trauma Cases
